Surprisingly, Tamdhu was mothballed in 2010 but new owner Ian MacLeod stepped in and completely turned the distillery around. They refurbished the distillery and opened a visitors’ center on site. Their investment is really starting to pay off. In recent years Tamdhu has become somewhat of a go-to single malt for whisky drinkers that enjoy a proper sherry-matured dram. The Tamdhu 12 Y is a great example. It matured exclusively in a combination of first-fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks.
